Open Note To You

Hey guys. I know I haven't posted in a really long time. It's been really crazy lately, but tonight I remembered that this blog is not about me at all. Crazy outfits, happy colors, beautiful people are all just parts of this blog. The real reason I am blogging is you. I want to be able to encourage you and help you. Whether I know you personally or not, my goal is to help you smile and know that you are valuable. This post is different than usual. It's an open note to all of you who need some encouragement. Tonight, it's especially for my Shorty,

My Open Note To You

Dear Shorty, Struggling student, and all you who need some encouragement,
I want you to know how much you mean to me. I may be just one person, but I am one person who will notice if you are gone or depressed or struggling. I know your nights are late and filled with unfinished tasks, whether it's homework, essays, laundry, cleaning, a job, whatever it is. These late nights make it easy for thoughts to come and flood your brain. You know the thoughts I'm talking about. The ones that plague you. The nagging negative ones that just beat you down bit by bit. They're why I'm writing this to you tonight. It's easy to let these thoughts overwhelm you. 'I'm not good enough.' 'Why did he (or she) leave?' 'What am I doing here?' 'Why try?" I want you to banish all these thoughts. Please know that even if a part of your support system is gone and it feels like the world has given up on you, there is still hope. There is always hope. You are a strong, beautiful lady (Yes guys you are beautiful too ;)) Look at everything you have accomplished. Look at all the troubles you have overcome. Regardless of what you are dealing with now. You have already overcome so much. Each day feels like a burden, but each day is just one day. Tomorrow is always a new day. It is what you make of it. Believe in yourself. I know it's kinda cheesy, but the point stands. If you can't, I will. I have always believed in you since day one. The shyish bubbly girl on the bus has blossomed into a beautiful independent woman. I'm excited to see what the future has for you. You just have to get through one more night at a time. I wish I were sitting right next to you tonight. Giving you hugs, making cookies (or just eating the dough lol) making a mess and having fun. So tonight I will settle for second best, hugs and cookies and kitties. All that the Internet can offer. I send you my words. My heart. My encouragement. Tonight you are not alone. Tonight I am here. Tonight let's finish this one task and tomorrow the sun will be out. My wish for you is to enjoy the sun and the breeze and the clouds. Enjoy the flowers and grass. Even enjoy the annoying roommate. They're always there for you. Be encouraged knowing that someone is thinking of you. Sometimes it's a family member, friend, peer, coworker, professor. Tonight it's me. You are in my heart and I wish for you to know how important you are to me. You are important to yourself. Just think, you couldn't have gotten as far as you are without, well, you.
Say Good bye to yesterday. Say Hello to tomorrow. Another day, another smile, awaits you.
You always have been and always will be beautiful.

Shine Bright and Beautiful.

P.S. For an instant smile, type 'kitten hugs' into Google. Enjoy the images. ;D

Handmade: Green and Copper Wire Jewelry

Hey guys. As you all know, I've been healing from wisdom teeth surgery. So I decided to stick to the theme of healing.

One of my aunties was in a horrible motorcycle accident several years ago. Well recently she had undergone surgery to help straighten out her legs. She hasn't been able to walk because of all the pins sticking out of her leg. Talk about painful. She has been such an inspiration to me. To be laid up and dependent on other people for months would make me depressed, but not her. I visited her a couple weeks ago. She was so upbeat and positive. Instead of being down and sorry for herself, she took up various craft projects to help keep her hands and mind busy. Today I decided to show off some of the wire jewelry she has made for me in celebration of her starting to walk again this week!

This bracelet was one of the first pieces she did while she was learning. My auntie told me she didn't do very well and was just going to take it apart and scrap it. I fell in love with it, so she gave it to me. The beads are big, round and smooth. The green is kind of olive-y. Super pretty and vintage looking. The copper wire is molded into a frame that holds the beads in place. She even made the clasp. Yes she did all of that by hand. It's beautiful!

Next is this ring with a big beautiful green glass bead. I have a weakness for all things green, so again I easily fell in love with it. The bead is secured to the three coils of copper wire through the center. To finish, the ends of the wire are bent into spirals on top of the bead. Its super cute and simple but elegant at the same time.

The last piece of jewelry I have from her is this simple pinkie ring. My auntie made this ring in like five minutes while I was visiting with her. It's simply a few coils of copper wire. The wire is then molded into three spirals. A bead and a bit of chain is added for decoration. Super simple. Super cute. She is so talented.

While healing physically, it's so important to also heal mentally too. My auntie has found a creative and beautiful way to help her spirits heal. I'm proud to be related to such a beautiful soul. I hope you guys can see a bit of her through this post. I love you auntie and wish you a speedy recovery on your journey.

Shine Bright and Beautiful!

P.S. What do you guys do to help heal both mentally and physically? I'd love to hear from you.

P.P.S. She made treble clef paper clips too!!

Crazy Pants Friday #6: Cozy Pants!

Welcome to a little tradition I like to call Crazy Pants Friday. Every Friday I give up regular jeans for a crazier alternative.

This week is much different than usual. Monday morning I had oral surgery to remove my bottom two wisdom teeth. I've been quite drugged this week lol. So since I've been wearing super comfy clothes and sweats, I decided to share some pictures of my soft cozy pants. I apologize ahead of time for my swollen cheeks. Though I'm sure plenty of you understand.

This first pair of pants is actually my mom's cozy pants. They are super soft and a very happy pink color with purple polka dots (the best part). Happy colors are important when dealing with stressful events like surgery. They are a bit too long, but that doesn't matter to me.

Being stuffed up in a house all day can get tiring. Also, it gets kinda toasty upstairs. These pants are perfect for dealing with that. They are thinner than regular sweat pants. The pattern is actually leaves. The blues and greens flow together in a very soothing way to me. This pair is comforting to me.

Of course comfy pants are also good for bed. This pair is adorable and perfect for sleeping. They are super soft and covered in cute moons and stars. I'm wearing this pair tonight.

I saved my favorite pair of cozy pants for last. I got this pair as a gift a couple Christmases ago. The are my favorite color: green! They are super soft and stretchy. A must for taking it easy. There are flowers and butterflies all over the legs of the pants.

Being happy with yourself and relaxing are very important when you are healing. Happy cozy pants are just one way to do that. What do you guys do when recovering from being sick or surgery?

Remember to Smile and let your inner light Shine!

P.S. If you guys have any yummy recipes for soft foods other than jello, feel free to share. Lol

Crazy Pants Friday #5: Crazy Lazy Pants!

Welcome to a little tradition I like to call Crazy Pants Friday. Every Friday I give up regular jeans for a crazier alternative.

It's been quite a while since I have been able to share CPF with you guys. The last couple weeks I haven't been working so I decided to wear my lazy pants.

These pants are great. They are super comfy and have pockets. Also, confession, these pants have an elastic waist band.

I picked my lazy pants up at a second hand store so they are already super soft. On top of that they didn't cost me much at all!!

Because there are so many colors, I can pretty much wear whatever shirt I want! This time I chose to wear a plain peachish t shirt. It was a super comfy and cute outfit.

A little icing on the cake for this outfit, I wore my             favorite boots. You guys have seen me wear these boots with many outfits. It's because they can go with like anything. If I can find a pair of boots like them with a heel, I'd be set forever lol.

Sometimes I just need a lazy day and there's nothing wrong with that. Part of loving and taking care of yourself is having a lazy day once in a while. When you guys are feeling lazy what do you wear? I'd love to hear from you in the comments below.

New Years Road Trip!

The beginning of a brand new year is always exhilarating. I want to hear about all of the adventures you guys have had in the last couple weeks.

My big new year adventure was a road trip! With my man (OneBadTerran) of course!!
So much driving, lol. I don't think I'm cut out for being a passenger in a car. Mostly because like ten minutes out on the road and I'm asleep. Well maybe that's a good thing.

Anyways, we drove from Idaho through Salt Lake City to St. George. (Shout out to all my Utah folks!!) I didn't realize how big Salt Lake is or how scary the interstate is there. I guess I'm kind of a small town girl. The view from our hotel was beautiful!

After resting for the night, (it was like a 9 hr drive!) we drove over to spend the day in Las Vegas. It's not what you think though. We actually didn't party, but we did drive through the Strip. Wow there are some very pretty buildings.

In Vegas was one of the reasons for our trip. Warning: Nerd out time. My and OBT's favorite Twitch broadcaster LethalFrag was hosting a hang out at the Pinball Hall of Fame. It was awesome meeting him in person.

We had such a great time. Lots of pinball was played. I scored several million on a couple machines. OBT did way better. It makes sense. He is a gamer. Lol.
BTW, if you stick your tongue out, you can play way better. ;D

From Vegas, we drove over to Reno to visit his mom. Another 8+ hour drive. There are some really odd and kinda creepy little towns on that drive. The best part of the trip was being able to sit and relax with his mom. We played games and were generally lazy. It was a great way to start off the new year.

How did you guys start off the year? Please share any adventures you've had. I'd love to hear what you've been up to. Just remember

Have a Happy Colors Day!

Feature Guest: Felicity

Hey guys. I'm trying something new. I'd like to feature a guest every month. The outfits will be will be a range of whatever makes the guest happy. The whole point will be to show that you guys can wear whatever you want. Being comfortable and happy in your skin is the most important thing.

The first guest I'm featuring is Felicity. She has a really cute outfit and follows my blog. I asked her some questions. Here's what she said:

Would you describe the dress your wearing: the colors and how the material feels?

Well the top is a whiter color than I expected. I thought it would be cream. It's a pretty white with black polka dots. The top is pretty thin but it didn't really show through for me. The bottom is a bit of a different texture. I'm having a hard time describing it. It almost feels like wind pants if that makes sense. It's very thin and light weight, but that's good for here (CA) since it's hot almost all year round. It flows nicely at the bottom and it doesn't stick to my body!

What about the belt?

The dress came with the belt. It was the perfect size for the dress. It fits perfectly. It does stretch a bit. Very cute! I love the bow!

How do you like the shoes?
I LOVE them! They were even better when they got here then they were online! They fit perfect. The only thing is that since they button on, when you don't have the attachment on, you can see [where it attaches]. Other than that, it laces up well and I like that I don't have to have that part on, it makes it match with more outfits. They were actually pretty comfortable to walk in too. The material is more velvety than I thought as well. Which I love!

Where would you wear this outfit?
Hm. I would wear it to maybe an interview. For sure I would wear it on a date!

How do you feel wearing the whole outfit?
I feel very classy! It makes me smile and I feel very happy and comfortable to wear it.

Thank you Felicity for sharing!
